About Carlos
Carlos Gil is the Editor in Chief of BestSends and the author of The End of Marketing (Kogan Page), one of the most referenced books on building a brand in the social and AI era.
He has spent 15+ years in digital and email marketing, with roles at LinkedIn, GetResponse, BMC Software, Winn-Dixie, and Save-A-Lot. Through his agency Gil Media Co., he has led work for Western Union, DocuSign, Hertz, Green Dot Bank, Kay Jewelers, Meta, Snapchat, Salesforce, and Adobe.
Today Carlos focuses on helping marketing teams implement AI in real workflows instead of slide decks. He writes two LinkedIn newsletters — Inbox Gold (focused on email marketing, the home base for BestSends readers) and Bad Marketing (a broader take on what's wrong in the industry) — and hosts his own podcast on Spotify. His content reaches more than 1 million followers across LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and email, and is seen by millions online every month.
He started BestSends because email marketing review sites had become vendor brochures. Every platform covered here gets tested on real campaigns, with real lists, sent to real subscribers. No platform pays for placement. No ranking gets bought. If a tool isn't worth recommending, it doesn't make the list.
What you'll find from Carlos on BestSends:
- Reviews of every major email platform, tested on live accounts
- Side by side comparisons with the tradeoffs nobody else names
- Guides ranked by use case (creators, ecommerce, agencies, nonprofits, paid newsletters, AI tools)
- Deliverability, list hygiene, and inbox placement coverage
- The State of Email Marketing report, updated annually
When he's not testing email platforms, Carlos runs Best of St. Johns, a local media brand covering St. Augustine, Florida.
