Mailchimp Is Raising Prices Again — Here's Why Creators Are Switching to Kit

If you're a creator on Mailchimp, you've probably noticed your bill creeping up over the past couple of years. It's not your imagination. Mailchimp has raised prices multiple times since the Intuit acquisition, and another round of increases is coming.

For a lot of creators, this is the final nudge they needed to make a move they've been putting off for years.

I've tested both platforms hands on for BestSends. Here's what you need to know and why Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is running a deal right now that makes the switch a no brainer.

    The Mailchimp Pricing Problem

Mailchimp charges you based on contacts, but here's the part most people miss: if the same subscriber exists in two different audiences, you're paying for them twice. Unsubscribed contacts? You're still paying for those too unless you manually archive them.

For creators with segmented lists, this pricing model quietly bleeds money every single month. When prices go up, that math gets worse.

And Mailchimp also caps how many emails you can send per month based on your plan tier. If you hit the limit, you either stop sending or pay overage fees.

    What Kit Does Differently

Kit was built specifically for creators. Not e-commerce brands, not enterprise marketing teams. Creators. That matters because the features are designed around how creators actually work.

Here's where Kit wins over Mailchimp:

    Pricing Model

Kit: One charge per unique subscriber, regardless of segments

Mailchimp: Charges per audience — duplicates cost extra

    Email Send Limits

Kit: Unlimited sends on all plans

Mailchimp: Capped by plan tier with overage fees

    Visual Automations

Kit: Unlimited steps, branches, conditions. Triggers: purchases, tags, forms, integrations

    Mailchimp: Available on Standard+ plans

    Creator Network

Kit: Cross-promote with other creators organically

    Mailchimp: Not available

    Built-in Commerce

Kit: Sell digital products, paid newsletters, subscriptions (0.6% + card fees)

Mailchimp: No native commerce at comparable terms

    Migration Support

Kit: Full account migration included free

    Mailchimp: N/A

The Deal: 25% Off Annual Plans Through April 30

Kit is running a limited time offer for new customers: 25% off any annual plan through April 30, 2026. That includes dedicated migration support from their team.

Annual plans already save you money over monthly billing. Stack the 25% discount on top and the numbers look like this:

    PlanRegular Annual PriceWith 25% Off
    Creator (up to 1K subscribers)$468/year$351/year
    Creator (up to 3K subscribers)$588/year$441/year
    Creator (up to 10K subscribers)$948/year$711/year
Creator Pro (up to 3K subscribers)$990/year$742.50/year
Creator Pro (up to 10K subscribers)$2,268/year$1,701/year

    * Pricing is approximate. Visit Kit for exact current pricing.

    Who Should Make the Switch

This deal makes the most sense if you're a creator who:

    • Sells courses, memberships, digital products, or coaching
    • Has a segmented list on Mailchimp and suspects you're paying for duplicates
    • Wants automations that actually work without constant babysitting
    • Has been meaning to leave Mailchimp but didn't want to deal with the migration
    • Needs to grow your list organically without spending money on ads

If you just send a monthly newsletter to 200 people and don't need automations, Mailchimp's free plan is probably still fine. But if email is a core part of how you make money, Kit is the better tool for the job.

    My Take

I spent years working inside the email marketing industry as a Brand Evangelist at GetResponse. I've tested every major ESP on the market for BestSends. Kit is one of the few platforms where the product actually matches the marketing.

The automation builder is genuinely powerful. The Creator Network is a unique growth channel no one else offers. And the migration support means you don't have to spend a weekend rebuilding everything from scratch.

The 25% discount is the cherry on top, but the product stands on its own. If you're on Mailchimp and you've been waiting for the right moment to switch, this is it.
