    List Decay

The natural rate at which an email list goes stale — typically 2–3% per month.

People change jobs, abandon old addresses, lose interest, and stop opening. A 100K list left untouched for a year will be down to roughly 70K still-engaged subscribers. Combat list decay with regular verification, re-engagement campaigns, and aggressive sunset policies for long-inactive subscribers.
